Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Yokohama BC (4-11) was defeated at home by second ranked Toyama Grouses (6-9) 92-87 on Saturday. Toyama Grouses looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward Naoki Uto (188-91) fired a double-double by scoring 30 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. American Drew Viney (204-88, college: Loyola Mary) chipped in 14 points and 5 assists. The former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) produced 21 points and 6 assists and Tanzanian center Hasheem Thabeet (218-87, college: Connecticut) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Toyama Grouses and four Yokohama BC players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Toyama Grouses maintains second place with 6-9 record having seven points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Yokohama BC dropped to the fourth position with 11 games lost. Toyama Grouses will face Toshiba Thunders (#3) in Kanagawa in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
