Regular Season Round 8: UBC - Lions 108-89

The most important game in the last round took place in St.Polten between third ranked Lions (6-2) and fourth ranked UBC St. Polten (5-2) on Saturday night. Lions were crushed by UBC St. Polten on the road 89-108. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lions. UBC St. Polten made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for UBC St. Polten especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Lions' players. Guard Lukas Boeck (184-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Guard Nico Kaltenbrunner (192-0) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. UBC St. Polten's coach Andreas Worenz used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spanish center Antoni Vicens (204-90) replied with 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and Spanish guard Ander Arruti (190-90) added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Lions. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. UBC St. Polten have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 5-2 record. Lions at the other side keep the third place with two games lost. UBC St. Polten are looking forward to face Flames (#5) in Vienna in the next round. Lions will play at home against the league's leader Timberwolves and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
