Regular Season Round 7: BUBA - Athletic Sofia 95-90

The biggest surprise took place in Sofia where host Buba (5-0) beat league's leader Athletic Sofia (5-1) 95-90 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the top position in A. Buba shot 27 for 40 from the free-throw line, while Athletic Sofia only scored eight points from the stripe. 31 personal fouls committed by Athletic Sofia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Aleksandar Milov (198-95) fired 31 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. International guard Evgeni Hadjirusev (193-95) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Ivaylo Vuchkov (197-90) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Denis Petkov (183-96) added 15 points and 9 assists respectively for lost side. Four Athletic Sofia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Buba keeps a position of A leader. Athletic Sofia at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the second place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Buba. Athletic Sofia will play next round against strong Akademik Sofia trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Sofia to the arena of Akademik Sofia. Buba will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Balkan 2 in Botevgrad.
