Regular Season Round 12: Metropolitanos - Comuna 87-78

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Caracas: Metropolitanos (#5) and Comuna (#4). Metropolitanos (11-9) won against visiting Comuna (7-11) 87-78. The winners were led by the former international forward Lenin Lopez (198-91) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and forward Jovanni Diaz (203-90) supported him with 13 points. Even 13 points and 5 rebounds by swingman Leonardo Berroteran (192-81) did not help to save the game for Comuna. Point guard Leonardo Palacios (186-94) added 14 points and 4 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Metropolitanos have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Comuna lost fourth consecutive game. Comuna at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
