Regular Season Round 9: Coruna - Melilla 67-78

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Melilla Baloncesto (7-2) won against 15th ranked Leyma Basquet (2-6) in Coruna 78-67 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Melilla Baloncesto. Leyma Basquet was better in third quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for point guard Daniel Rodriguez (182-84) who led his team to a victory with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Fran Guerra (214-92) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners. Center Sergio Olmos (213-86, college: Temple) answered with 16 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Jorge Sanz (188-93) added 13 points and 5 assists in the effort for Leyma Basquet. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Melilla Baloncesto. Melilla Baloncesto moved-up to third place, which they share with Manresa. Loser Leyma Basquet dropped to the seventeenth position with six games lost. Melilla Baloncesto will face Oviedo CB (#6) at home in the next round. Leyma Basquet will play against Castello (#10) in Castellon and hope to win that game.
