Regular Season Round 16: CDE Talca - Las Animas 96-95

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Las Animas (15-2) on the court of second ranked Espanol de Talca on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Espanol de Talca 96-95. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Las Animas. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Espanol de Talca looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Terrence Shannon (203-79, college: Elgin CC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. The former international point guard Francisco Bravo (174-87) contributed with 5 points and 17 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Franco Morales (179-92) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists and American forward Brandon Robinson (198-89, college: Clayton St.) added 26 points in the effort for Las Animas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains second position with 10-7 record having five points less than leader Los Leones. Las Animas at the other side still keep top place with two games lost. Espanol de Talca are looking forward to face league's leader Los Leones in Quilpue in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Las Animas' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Valdivia Deportivo Valdivia.
