Regular Season Round 8: Aalto-Basket - Raholan Pyrkiva 54-71

Everything could happen in Espoo at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Raholan Pyrkiva and 10th ranked Aalto-Basket had identical 1-6 record. But Aalto-Basket was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Tampere 71-54 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 36-18 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Raholan Pyrkiva dominated on the defensive end, holding Aalto-Basket to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Raholan Pyrkiva had a 40-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Ville Haapoja (200-98) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Lauri Tiainen (193-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Rasmus Roslund (192-88) produced 11 points and 6 rebounds and guard Antti Laukkanen (193-91) added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Raholan Pyrkiva (2-6) moved-up to tenth place in Division. Newly promoted Aalto-Basket dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Raholan Pyrkiva will face higher ranked Aanekosken Huima (#7) in Aanekoski in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Aalto-Basket's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Espoo to the arena Espoo Basket.
