The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked UCD Marian (7-2) in Dublin on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked Swords Thunder (7-3) 93-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of UCD Marian. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Swords Thunder forced 20 UCD Marian turnovers. American forward Conroy Baltimore (198, college: Lehigh) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Swords Thunder players scored in double figures. American guard Mike Garrow (193-91, college: E.Connecticut) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds and the former international point guard Conor Meany (185-86) added 13 points and 11 assists in the effort for UCD Marian. Swords Thunder maintains second position with 7-3 record having just one point less than leader UCD Marian, which they share with Templeogue. UCD Marian at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. Swords Thunder's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Dublin to the arena Templeogue.
