Regular Season Round 9: Andorra - Unicaja 66-60

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Unicaja Malaga (4-5) was defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked Andorra (4-5) 66-60. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Unicaja Malaga won third quarter 13-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Unicaja Malaga 41-28 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American forward Christopher Copeland (203-84, college: Colorado) who led his team to a victory with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Serbian power forward Oliver Stevic (204-84, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 6 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89) answered with 8 points and 8 rebounds and Polish Adam Waczynski (199-89) added 14 points in the effort for Unicaja Malaga. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Andorra moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Unicaja Malaga. Unicaja Malaga lost third consecutive game. Andorra will play against higher ranked Valencia Basket (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Unicaja Malaga will play against Joventut (#14) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
