Regular Season Round 6: Istanbul Univ. - Buducnost 38-87

WABA top team - Montenegrin Buducnost (6-0) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Turkish Istanbul Uni (0-6) 87-38. Buducnost dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Istanbul Uni's 26. Buducnost forced 23 Istanbul Uni turnovers and outrebounded them 46-25 including a 36-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Buducnost looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Istanbul Uni's players. The best player for the winners was American center Rachel Hollivay (193-93, college: Rutgers, agency: ProDep Management) who scored 21 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Bosnian guard Nikolina Babic (177-95, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Four Buducnost players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Sura Sonmez (183-1) who recorded 4 points and 7 rebounds and center Ceren Taylan (189-1) added 6 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Buducnost have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending Montenegrin champion maintains first position in A with 6-0 record. Loser Istanbul Uni still closes the standings with six games lost. Buducnost will meet at home Beroe (#5) in the next round. Istanbul Uni will play against the league's second-placed Crvena Zvezda in Beograd and hopes to get finally their first victory.
