Very important is a home loss of third ranked Hertener Loewen (8-4) against eighth ranked Salzkotten (5-7) on Saturday night. Host Hertener Loewen was defeated by Salzkotten in a tough game in Herten 84-90. Salzkotten made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Hertener Loewen was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Felix Wenningkamp (195-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 31 points and 5 assists. Forward Lennart Schinke (193-95) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Salzkotten players scored in double figures. American power forward Dijon Smith (203-89, college: Ft.Hays State) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and guard Faton Jetullahi (188-94) added 14 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 steals in the effort for Hertener Loewen. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Salzkotten moved-up to seventh place in West, which they share with Herford and Ibbenbueren. Loser Hertener Loewen dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Salzkotten will face league's second-placed Grevenbroich on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hertener Loewen will play against Bonn II and hope to win that game.
