Very expected game when 10th ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (3-9) lost on the road to fourth ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (8-5) 106-94 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Tampereen Pyrinto. Lapuan Korikobrat managed to win fourth quarter 33-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tampereen Pyrinto made 35-of-44 free shots (79.5 percent) during the game, while Lapuan Korikobrat only scored thirteen points from the stripe. Tampereen Pyrinto looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American Brian Asbury (201-86, college: Miami, FL) notched 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and the other American import guard Juan'Ya Green (188-92, college: Hofstra, agency: 3Eye) supported him with 21 points (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). Tampereen Pyrinto's coach Sami Toiviainen used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 21 points by American Maurice Creek (196-90, college: G.Washington) did not help to save the game for Lapuan Korikobrat. Puerto Rican-American forward Christopher Ortiz (203-93, college: Kent St., agency: Inception Sports) added 23 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Five Tampereen Pyrinto and four Lapuan Korikobrat players scored in double figures. Tampereen Pyrinto have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 8-5 record. Loser Lapuan Korikobrat keeps the tenth place with nine games lost. Tampereen Pyrinto will meet KTP-Basket (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Lapuan Korikobrat will play against Espoo United and hope to secure a win.
