Regular Season Round 15: Mineros - Santos 90-81

Very expected game when 6th ranked Santos (5-8) were defeated on the road by second ranked Mineros (9-6) 90-81 on Wednesday. Mineros looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was Panamanian center Jaime Lloreda (204-80, college: LSU) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Eric McClellan (193-93, college: Gonzaga, agency: KMG Sports Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists. Mineros' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Dominican Antonio Pena (204-86, college: Villanova) who recorded 23 points and 8 rebounds and the former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Five Mineros and four Santos players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Mineros went down to third position due to points difference. Loser Santos dropped to the seventh place with eight games lost. They share the position with Abejas. Mineros will again meet at home Santos (#7) in the next round. Santos will have a break next round.
