Regular Season Round 12: Al-Najma - Al-Muharraq 78-61

The most important game in the last round took place in Manama between third ranked Al-Muharraq (8-2) and seventh ranked Al-Najma (6-5) on Wednesday night. Al-Muharraq was defeated by Al-Najma on the road 78-61. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al-Muharraq. Al-Najma held Al-Muharraq to an opponent 23.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Al-Najma had a 43-28 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Al-Muharraq helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Haminn Quaintance (203-85, college: Kent St.) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 26 rebounds and 5 assists. Qassim Hassan chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Ali-Hassan Shukralla who recorded 9 points and 13 rebounds and Bader Abdulla added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Al-Muharraq's coach Ivan Jeremic rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Al-Najma have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 6-5 record. Al-Muharraq at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. Al-Najma's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Manama to the arena Samaheej.
