Regular Season Round 8: Akademik PL - Spartak Pleven 94-75

Bottom-ranked Spartak Pleven is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to fourth ranked Academik Plovdiv (4-3) 94-75. The game was mostly controlled by Academik Plovdiv. Spartak Pleven was better in fourth quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Academik Plovdiv players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Spartak Pleven's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Isiah Umipig (183-92, college: Seattle) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 4 steals and the former international Martin Durchev (202-87) who added 15 points and 7 assists during the contest. Point guard Nikolay Marinov (174-94) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and forward Konstantin Koev (196-91) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Academik Plovdiv went down to fifth position due to points difference. Spartak Pleven at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Academik Plovdiv will play against Beroe (#7) in Stara Zagora in the next round. Spartak Pleven will have a break next round.
