Regular Season Round 8: Papagou - Karditsas 52-57

Bottom-ranked Karditsas managed to get a second victory, breaking the three-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time newly promoted Karditsas won against twelfth-ranked Papagou in Athens 57-52. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 32-21 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Karditsas dominated on the defensive end, holding Papagou to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 19 Papagou turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian center Stefan Djordjevic (206-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and forward Serafeim Theos (204-84) who added 12 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Karditsas' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Center Petros Melissaratos (205-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Konstantinos Fakopoulidis (190-95) scored 6 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Karditsas (2-6) moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with AE Larissas. Papagou at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. They share it with Marousi. Karditsas is looking forward to face higher ranked Apollon Patras (#4) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Papagou's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Peristeri GS.
