A2 top team - Peristeri GS (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifteenth ranked Doukas (1-7) in Athens 96-59. The game without a history. Peristeri GS led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Doukas to just 6 points in first quarter. Peristeri GS dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Doukas' 42. They outrebounded Doukas 41-27 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Peristeri GS players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. The winners were led by the former international guard Georgios Angelou (185-94, college: St.Francis, PA) who scored that evening 22 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and center Tasos Dimitriadis (204-82) supported him with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Four Peristeri GS players scored in double figures. Even 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) by guard Alexis Kiritsis (198-82) did not help to save the game for Doukas. Center Manolis Koukoulas (209-91) added 10 points for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Peristeri GS have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Newly promoted Peristeri GS maintains first position with 8-0 record. Doukas lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with seven games lost. They share the position with Arkadikos. Peristeri GS's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Papagou.
