Regular Season Round 7: Barreirense - Oliveirense 78-82

Very expected game when bottom-ranked Barreirense (0-9) lost to third ranked Oliveirense (7-2) in Barreiro 78-82 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 12 points at the halftime before their 26-9 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. It was a very good performance for American center Eric Coleman (200-85, college: N.Iowa) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. The former international forward Arnette Hallman (200-88) contributed with 20 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Oliveirense players scored in double figures. Oliveirense's coach Norberto Alves used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) answered with 22 points and 7 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and the other American import forward Phillip Lawrence (201, college: Marist) added 21 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Barreirense. Oliveirense moved-up to second place. Barreirense lost their ninth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with nine games lost. Oliveirense will face Illiabum (#4) in Ilhavo in the next round. Barreirense will play on the road against the league's leader Benfica (#1) in Lisbona and hopes to get finally their first victory.
