Regular Season Round 18: Zalgiris II - Jonava 72-83

There was a minor upset in Kaunas where 6th ranked Zalgiris II (9-9) was defeated by eighth ranked Jonava (9-9) 83-72 on Saturday. Jonava looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Lukas Grabauskas (192-95) who scored 20 points and 6 assists. Nigerian-American guard Ebuka Anyaorah (193-90, college: N.C.Central) chipped in 22 points. Anyaorah is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Jonava players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Erikas Venskus (203-0) who recorded 20 points and Vitalijus Kozys (200-99) added 4 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Zalgiris II's coach Tomas Masiulis rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Jonava have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Zalgiris II. Jonava will meet at home higher ranked Telsiai (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Zalgiris II will play against the league's leader Vytis in Sakiai and hope to secure a win.
