Regular Season Round 11: Avila - Martorell 75-70

Date: December 2, 2017
There was no surprise in Avila where 15th ranked Martorell (1-10) was defeated by eighth ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (7-4) 75-70 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-14. But Martorell won second period 16-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fontedoso Carrefour made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Jon Aramburu (204-92, agency: Duran International) who scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Venezuelan point guard Harold Cazorla (175-91, agency: Duran International) chipped in 14 points. Aramburu is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Fontedoso Carrefour players scored in double figures. Guard Xavi Guirao (190-87) produced 19 points and guard David Jofresa (185-95) added 7 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Fontedoso Carrefour. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Martorell lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with ten games lost. Fontedoso Carrefour will face bottom-ranked Zamorano (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Martorell will play against Navarra and hope to win that game.
