There was no surprise in Valdarno where 13th ranked Forli (1-8) was crushed by second ranked RR Retail Galli (9-1) 73-41 on Saturday. RR Retail Galli held Forli to an opponent 17.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.6 percent accuracy of the winners. RR Retail Galli forced 34 Forli turnovers and outrebounded them 53-32 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Federica Iannucci (172-93) fired 27 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Center Mounia El-Habbab (188-94) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Lucia Missanelli (177-98) produced 9 points and 9 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) and forward Alice Pieraccini (184-98) added 2 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted RR Retail Galli maintains second position in A2 with 9-1 record behind leader Sesto SG. Forli at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifteenth place with eight games lost. RR Retail Galli will face Campobasso (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Forli will play against Bologna (#3) and hope to win that game.
