Regular Season Round 15: Niigata Albirex - Chiba Jets 81-90

There was a small surprise when second ranked Chiba Jets (14-5) defeated on the road second-best Niigata Albirex (8-11) 90-81 on Sunday. Chiba Jets looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. His fellow American import forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) helped adding 18 points and 9 rebounds. Chiba Jets' coach Atsushi Ono used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) with 19 points and 8 rebounds and Masashi Joho (183-82) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Chiba Jets and five Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Chiba Jets have a solid series of four victories in a row. They used an opportunity after Ryukyu GK lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Niigata Albirex keeps the second place with 11 games lost. Chiba Jets will face Hitachi Sunrockers (#3) in Tokyo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Niigata Albirex will play on the road against Nishinomiya S. in Hyogo and hope to win that game.
