Regular Season Round 8: Hapoel J-M - Maccabi T-A 71-88

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Jerusalem. Top-ranked Maccabi T-A faced second-ranked Hapoel Jerusalem. Guests from Tel-Aviv (8-0) defeated host Hapoel Jerusalem (6-2) 88-71. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Hapoel Jerusalem. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 42-24 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Hapoel Jerusalem 43-25 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard Pierre Jackson (180-91, college: Baylor) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 assists. Australian power forward Jonah Bolden (208-96, college: UCLA) chipped in 9 points and 12 rebounds. Maccabi T-A's coach Neven Spahija used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International power forward Richard Howell (203-90, college: N.Carolina St.) produced 20 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Lior Eliyahu (205-85) added 12 points respectively for the hosts. Maccabi T-A have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Defending champion Hapoel Jerusalem keeps the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Hapoel Holon. Maccabi T-A are looking forward to face league's second-placed Hapoel Holon at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hapoel Jerusalem will play against Galil Gilboa in Rosh Pina and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
