Regular Season Round 7: Joinville - L.Sorocaba 77-75

A very interesting game took place in Joinville. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 9th ranked Liga Sorocaba (2-5) to ninth ranked Joinville (2-4) 77-75 in the fight for the eleventh place. Strangely Liga Sorocaba outrebounded Joinville 38-23 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Deonta Stocks (185-88, college: W.Georgia) fired 16 points and 7 assists for the winners. Guard Felipe Vezaro (193-92, college: Texas A&M Int.) chipped in 14 points. Joinville's coach George Salles allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Naturalized American guard Kevin Crescenzi (190-93, college: Dartmouth) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds and center Rafael Rodrigues (213-87) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Joinville and four Liga Sorocaba players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Joinville went down to eleventh position due to points difference. Liga Sorocaba lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth place with five games lost. Joinville's next round opponent will be league's leader Pinheiros in Sao Paulo and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Liga Sorocaba will play at home against Paschoalotto/Bauru (#7) and hope to win that game.
