Regular Season Round 16: Vitebsk - Brest 89-69

Very expected game when 9th ranked Brest (2-14) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Vitebsk (8-8) 89-69 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Vitebsk. Brest managed to win third quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Vitebsk forced 26 Brest turnovers and outrebounded them 48-29 including a 36-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Vitebsk made 8 blocks. Swingman Sergey Sapegin (193-84) fired 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for the winners. Forward Aliaksandr Dziarzhautsau (202-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Four Vitebsk players scored in double figures. Guard Anton Shchurko (188-97) produced 25 points and 6 rebounds and forward Konstantin Solyshko (196-96) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Vitebsk maintains fourth position with 8-8 record, which they share with Impuls BGUIR. Brest lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 14 games lost. Vitebsk will again meet at home Brest (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Brest will have a break next round.
