Regular Season Round 11: FoKoPo - HBA-Marsky 78-81

Tenth-ranked Forssan Koripojat (3-8) made lots of trouble for first ranked HBA-Marsky (10-3). The visitors from Helsinki managed to secure only three-point victory 81-78. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Forward Elias Valtonen (198-99) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Miika Heinonen (191-99) contributed with 18 points for the winners. HBA-Marsky's coach Antti Koskelainen allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Juwan Howard-Jr (200-92, college: Detroit Mercy) answered with 36 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard John Merchant (187-89, college: Dowling) added 18 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Forssan Koripojat. HBA-Marsky maintains first place in Division with 10-3 record. Forssan Koripojat at the other side keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. HBA-Marsky will play against Lahti (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Forssan Koripojat will play against Porvoon Tarmo (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
