Regular Season Round 9: Tartu Ulikool - TLU/Kalev 90-80

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Tartu Ulikool's (4-3) home victory over 5th ranked TLU/Kalev (3-5) 90-80 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 32-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Tartu Ulikool shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Lithuanian Vytenis Cizauskas (187-92) nailed 30 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winning side and Swedish center Carl Engstrom (216-91, college: Alabama) accounted for 14 points and 13 rebounds. Tartu Ulikool's coach Priit Vene used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international point guard Reimo Tamm (188-84) came up with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and Senegalese center Bamba Fall (217-86, college: SMU) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for TLU/Kalev in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Tartu Ulikool maintains fourth place with 4-3 record. Loser TLU/Kalev dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Tartu Ulikool will meet at home bottom-ranked TTU (#8) in the next round. TLU/Kalev will play against Parnu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
