Regular Season Round 15: Aishin AW - Fujitsu RW 56-72

No shocking result in a game in Anjo where fifth ranked Fujitsu RW (10-5) defeated 9th ranked Aishin Wings (3-12) 72-56. The game was mostly controlled by Fujitsu RW. Aishin Wings was better in fourth quarter 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Aishin Wings outrebounded Fujitsu RW 48-36 including 21 on the offensive glass. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for center Miwa Kuribayashi (187-98) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. International point guard Rui Machida (161-93) accounted for 7 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winning side. The former international center Kyoko Hamaguchi (181-90) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and Haruki Takahara (173-99) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Aishin Wings in the defeat. Four Aishin Wings players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Fujitsu RW. They maintain fifth place with 10-5 record. Aishin Wings lost their eighth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. Fujitsu RW will have a break next round. Aishin Wings will play again on the road against Fujitsu RW (#5) in Kawasaki and hope to win that game.
