Regular Season Round 5: Qatar Club - Al Wakrah 97-73

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Al Wakrah (2-2) against fourth ranked Qatar Sports Club (3-1) on Saturday night. Visiting Al Wakrah was crushed by Qatar Sports Club in Doha 97-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Wakrah. Qatar Sports Club dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Al Wakrah's 30 and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Qatar Sports Club looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Al Wakrah's players. American guard Baden Jaxen (190-90, college: N.Carolina) stepped up and scored 28 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward Nick West (208-94, college: Alabama A&M) chipped in 26 points and 13 rebounds. Four Qatar Sports Club players scored in double figures. Qatar Sports Club's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guamanian-American guard Earnest Ross (196-91, college: Missouri, agency: MKP Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Marcus Johnson-Jr (180-95, college: UALR) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Qatar Sports Club moved-up to third place. Al Wakrah at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Qatar Sports Club's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Arabi.
