There was a surprise result in Azpeitia where sixteenth ranked Sammic ISB (5-8) beat higher ranked Palma (5-8) 70-62 on Saturday. Palma trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 19-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 62-70 at the end of the game. Center Victor Serrano (211-89) stepped up and scored 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and point guard Gaizka Maiza (191-96) chipped in 8 points and 8 assists. At the losing side point guard Carles Bivia (189-85) responded with 17 points and forward Javier Medori (201-93) scored 7 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Sammic ISB moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Palma.
