Regular Season Round 13: Porto S.Elpidio - Giulianova 60-69

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Giulianova (6-7) beat on the road higher ranked Porto S.Elpidio (7-6) 69-60 on Sunday. Giulianova dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Porto S.Elpidio's 24. Porto S.Elpidio was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Alessandro Banchi (185-98, agency: Players Group) stepped up and scored 18 points (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners and point guard Antonello Ricci (190-92, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Giulianova's coach Davide Tisato used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side guard Andrea Maggiotto (190-88, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 24 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Simone Zanotti (208-92) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Giulianova moved-up to eighth place in B, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Porto S.Elpidio dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Giulianova will face Nardo (#13) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
