Important game to mention about took place in Doha. Fourth ranked Al Sadd (4-2) saved a 2-point derby victory at home edging 7th ranked Al Rayyan (1-5) 84-82 on Wednesday evening. Al Sadd players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American Julius Coles (193-89, college: Canisius) scored 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international power forward Nasser Al-Rayes (208, college: California Tech) chipped in 15 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Stephen Hurt (211-93, college: Kansas St.) with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import guard Sherwood Brown (193-91, college: FGCU) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds. Five Al Sadd and four Al Rayyan players scored in double figures. Al Sadd maintains fourth position with 4-2 record. Al Rayyan lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. Al Sadd will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Al Rayyan's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Shamal.
