Not a big story in a game in Krasnodar where 3rd ranked Lithuanian Lietuvos rytas (4-4) were defeated by top-ranked Russian Lokomotiv (8-0) 77-68 on Wednesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-12. But Lietuvos rytas won third quarter 29-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lokomotiv made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Mardy Collins (196-84, college: Temple) who scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Australian-Dutch forward Ryan Broekhoff (197-90, college: Valparaiso) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Lokomotiv players scored in double figures. American guard Chris Kramer (191-88, college: Purdue) produced 21 points and 6 assists and power forward Martynas Echodas (206-97) added 9 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Lokomotiv have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group C with 8-0 record. Loser Lietuvos rytas keep the third place with four games lost. Lokomotiv will face bottom-ranked RETAbet BB (#5) in Bilbao in the next round. Lietuvos rytas will play at home against the league's second-placed ALBA Berlin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
