Regular Season Round 14: Al-Hala - Al-Ahli 79-80

The most exciting game of round 14 in the Premier League took place in Muharraq. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 6th ranked Al-Hala (8-5) to second ranked Al-Ahli (11-2) 80-79 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al-Hala. Al-Ahli forced 21 Al-Hala turnovers. Strangely Al-Hala outrebounded Al-Ahli 39-27 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international forward Hesham Sarhan (-92) scored 31 points to lead the charge for the winners and Kadhem Majed chipped in 13 points, 7 assists and 4 steals during the contest. American-Lebanese center Loren Woods (218-78, college: Arizona) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 26 rebounds and 5 blocks and Jordanian Ahmed Jamal (-87) scored 16 points. Four Al-Hala players scored in double figures. Al-Ahli maintains second position with 11-2 record having just one point less than leader Al-Manama. Al-Hala at the other side keeps the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Al-Najma. Al-Ahli are looking forward to face Hidd (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Al-Hala will play against Samaheej (#13) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
