Regular Season Round 21: Neptunas-Akv. - Perlas 72-70

Eleventh-ranked Perlas (7-13) gave a tough game to fourth ranked Neptunas-Akv. (14-7) in Klaipeda on Thursday. Neptunas-Akv. managed to secure only two-point victory 72-70. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Perlas outrebounded Neptunas-Akv. 42-30 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Perlas' players. Point guard Deividas Anuzis (182-92) stepped up and scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and the former international forward Valdas Vasylius (203-83, college: ODU) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Neptunas-Akv. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Margiris Normantas (194-96) with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Deividas Sirvydis (200-0) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Perlas' coach Arvydas Gronskis tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Neptunas-Akv. maintains fourth place with 14-7 record. Perlas lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 13 games lost. Neptunas-Akv. will face league's leader Vytis in Sakiai in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Perlas will play at home against Suduva-Mantinga (#3) and hope to win that game.
