Regular Season Round 11: TBV Start - Stelmet 82-81

There was an upset in Lublin where 4th placed Stelmet (8-4) was edged by twelfth ranked Start (5-6) 82-81 on Friday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. It was a great evening for American point guard James Washington (182-87, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. His fellow American import swingman Chavaughn Lewis (196-93, college: Marist) helped adding 21 points and 5 assists. Start's coach David Dedek used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Serbian-Montenegrin forward Boris Savovic (208-87, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and the former international point guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Start maintains twelfth place with 5-6 record. Defending champion Stelmet keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Start will face higher ranked Polpharma (#7) in Starogard Gdanski in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Stelmet will play at home against BM Slam Stal and hope to win that game.
