Regular Season Round 12: Iberostar Tener. - Unicaja 81-77

Everything could happen in Tenerife at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked CB Canarias and 9th ranked Unicaja Malaga had identical 6-5 record. This time CB Canarias used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Malaga 81-77 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Unicaja Malaga won third quarter 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was point guard Rodrigo San-Miguel (186-85) who scored 9 points and 5 assists. American center Mike Tobey (213-94, college: Virginia) chipped in 11 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward James Augustine (208-84, college: Illinois) who recorded 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and Serbian point guard Nemanja Nedovic (191-91, agency: BeoBasket) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. CB Canarias have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Obradoiro. Loser Unicaja Malaga keeps the ninth position with six games lost. CB Canarias will face league's second-placed Baloncesto Fuenlabrada in Madrid in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
