Regular Season Round 14: FC Barcelona II - Oviedo 71-86

No shocking result in a game in Barcelona where fifth ranked Oviedo CB (9-5) defeated 14th ranked Barca II (5-9) 86-71. The game was mostly controlled by Oviedo CB. Barca II was better in third quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Oviedo CB especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. Oviedo CB players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Center Oliver Arteaga (208-83) notched 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Latvian Davis Geks (192-95) supported him with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Oviedo CB players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by Ukrainian power forward Volodymyr Gerun (208-94, college: Portland) did not help to save the game for Barca II. Point guard Pol Figueras (187-98) added 11 points and 6 assists for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Oviedo CB maintains fifth position with 9-5 record. Barca II at the other side keeps the fourteenth place with nine games lost. Oviedo CB's next round opponent will be Palma (#16) in S'Arenal which should be an easy win for them. Barca II will play on the road against Ourense and hope to win that game.
