Regular Season Round 6: Siliwangi - Pelita Jaya 59-81

IBL top team - Pelita Jaya (3-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Siliwangi (0-5) in Bandung 81-59. Pelita Jaya dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Siliwangi's 28. They outrebounded Siliwangi 45-27 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Pelita Jaya looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American-Bahrain center Chester Giles (211-85, college: Oregon St.) notched a double-double by scoring 13 points, 19 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks to lead the effort and American guard Wayne Bradford (193-92, college: Davenport) supported him with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 23 points and 5 rebounds by Canadian Donnavan Hastings (203-94, college: UNB) did not help to save the game for Siliwangi. Freddy Bachtiar (182-94) added 8 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pelita Jaya have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 3-0 record. Loser Siliwangi still closes the standings with five games lost. Pelita Jaya will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Siliwangi will play against Stapac (#3) in Jakarta and hopes to get finally their first victory.
