Regular Season Round 14: Faenza - Desio 96-70

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Desio (6-8) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Faenza (9-5) 96-70 on Sunday. Faenza shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Mattia Venucci (188-90) who scored 18 points and 9 assists. Swingman Gioacchino Chiappelli (198-91, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Five Faenza players scored in double figures. Faenza's coach Marco Regazzi felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized Dominican guard Daniel Perez (185-97, agency: Interperformances) produced 20 points and 5 rebounds and Simone Fiorito (198-91, agency: SPORTlab Agency) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Faenza have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in B. Loser Desio dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Faenza will face higher ranked Crema (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Desio will play against Forli Tigers (#6) and hope to win that game.
