Regular Season Round 25: Gunma - Kanazawa Sam. 85-78

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when third ranked Gunma (12-11) defeated at home their biggest opponent Kanazawa Sam. (12-12) 85-78 on Wednesday. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Gunma made 20-of-21 free shots (95.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) stepped up and scored 26 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for the winners and his fellow American import center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: Colorado Mesa) chipped in 23 points and 9 rebounds. Gunma's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side guard Tsukino Tsukino (178-88) responded with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) scored 20 points. Four Kanazawa Sam. players scored in double figures. Gunma moved-up to second place. Kanazawa Sam. lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the third position with 12 games lost. Gunma will face Kagawa FA (#5) in Takamatsu in the next round. Kanazawa Sam. will play at home against Aomori Watts and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
