Regular Season Round 14: Myrtia - Albacete 76-77

The most exciting game of round 14 in the LEB Silver took place in Murcia. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 7th ranked Myrtia (7-7) to sixth ranked Albacete (9-5) 77-76 on Wednesday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 28-21. But Myrtia won second period 15-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Albacete dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Myrtia's 24. The best player for the winners was American center Babatunde Olumuyiwa (203-92, college: USC Upstate) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Swingman Javier Marin (194-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Albacete players scored in double figures. British Matthew Don (201-93, college: Cameron) produced 17 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Joey Flannery (196, college: Babson, agency: Duran International) added 13 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Albacete moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Moron. Myrtia lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Albacete is looking forward to face higher ranked HLA Alicante (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Myrtia will play against Real Canoe (#13) in Madrid and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
