Regular Season Round 11: Papagou - Kastoria 61-66

Very expected game in Athens where 12th ranked Papagou (3-8) was defeated by sixth ranked Kastoria (7-4) 66-61 on Wednesday. Papagou was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a great shooting night for Kastoria especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. It was a great evening for forward Giorgos Brozos (198-86, college: Furman) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points. Forward Danis Eleftheriadis (197-89) helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds. Center Petros Melissaratos (205-93) responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Konstantinos Fakopoulidis (190-95) scored 20 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Kastoria moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Amyntas Dafnis and Doxa Lefkadas. Papagou lost their fifth game in a row. Papagou at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the twelfth position with eight games lost. Kastoria will face higher ranked Apollon Patras (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Papagou's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Amyntas Dafnis.
