Regular Season Round 11: Peristeri GS - Apollon Patras 96-78

The game between Top Four teams took place in Athens. Leader host Peristeri GS (11-0) defeated second-ranked Apollon Patras (8-3) 96-78. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Apollon Patras. It looked good early as Apollon Patras took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Peristeri GS had a 28-20 second period charge getting the lead and Apollon Patras was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 78-96. They outrebounded Apollon Patras 38-20 including 25 on the defensive glass. Peristeri GS players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for center Gaios Skordilis (207-87, agency: Diamond Sports) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Thanasis Konstantakopoulos (198-88) accounted for 18 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Naturalized German forward Dimitris Cheilaris (206-90) came up with 20 points and 5 rebounds and guard Giorgios Apostolidis (199-84) added 8 points and 7 assists respectively for Apollon Patras in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Apollon Patras' coach Dimitris Papadopoulos rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Peristeri GS have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. Newly promoted Peristeri GS maintains first place with 11-0 record. Apollon Patras at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with Holargos. Peristeri GS will play against league's second-placed Iraklis in Thessaloniki in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Apollon Patras will play on the road against Kastoria and hopes to get back on the winning track.
