Regular Season Round 12: AZS Koszalin - Legia 84-76

Bottom-ranked Legia (0-14) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 84-76 loss to fifteenth ranked AZS Koszalin (4-9) in Koszalin on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Legia won third quarter 15-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AZS Koszalin made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Diante Baldwin (183-94, college: NC-Greensboro) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 7 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Serbian power forward Aleksandar Marelja (207-92, agency: BeoBasket) who added 21 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Anthony Beane (188-94, college: S.Illinois, agency: Pensack Sports) with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and his fellow American import forward Hunter Mickelson (208-92, college: Kansas, agency: 3Eye) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. AZS Koszalin moved-up to fourteenth place. Newly promoted Legia still closes the standings with 14 games lost. AZS Koszalin will meet higher ranked Asseco (#12) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Legia will play against Miasto Szkla (#13) in Krosno and hopes to get finally their first victory.
