Regular Season Round 13: Gran Canaria - Real Betis 83-90
Date: December 23, 2017
Bottom-ranked Real Betis managed to get the third consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they won against fourth-ranked Gran Canaria in Las Palmas 90-83. And what about a third win in a row after ...ten consecutive losses. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gran Canaria. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Real Betis shot 63.2 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Real Betis especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American-Czech swingman Blake Schilb (201-83, college: Loyola, IL, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American DJ Seeley (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) answered with 11 points and 5 rebounds and Israeli point guard Gal Mekel (190-88, college: Wichita St., agency: BeoBasket) added 10 points and 5 assists in the effort for Gran Canaria. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Real Betis have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with Burgos. Gran Canaria at the other side dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Real Betis is looking forward to face higher ranked Zaragoza (#16) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gran Canaria will play against CB Canarias (#8) in Tenerife and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
