Regular Season Round 14: Pau-Lacq-Orthez - Chalons-Reims 69-77

There was an upset when higher ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (7-7) was defeated at home by sixteenth ranked Chalons-Reims (6-8) 77-69 on Saturday. Pau-Lacq-Orthez trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 19 after three quarters before a 26-15 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 69-77 at the end of the game. Chalons-Reims had a 29-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Ghanian-American forward Ben Bentil (206-95, college: Providence) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American LaMonte Ulmer (198-86, college: Rhode Island, agency: HMS) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Chalons-Reims' coach Cedric Heitz allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Zimbabwean power forward Vitalis Chikoko (208-91) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and international point guard Elie-Franck Okobo (188-97) scored 11 points and 5 assists. Chalons-Reims moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Antibes and Cholet. Loser Pau-Lacq-Orthez dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. Chalons-Reims will face higher ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (#5) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
