Regular Season Round 9: Caballos - Toros 89-95

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Caballos (7-2) in Aguadulce on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Toros (4-5) 95-89. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Caballos. They outrebounded Caballos 46-32 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Point guard Joel Munoz (183-80) stepped up and scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and naturalized American Antonio Bumpus (192-89, college: Cumberlands) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. Four Toros players scored in double figures. Toros' coach Humberto Rapon used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international Josimar Ayarza (205-87, college: S.Mississippi) with 30 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized American point guard CJ Rodriguez (188-94, college: S.Nazarene) scored 22 points, 9 assists and 5 steals. Toros moved-up to third place, which they share with Universitarios and Panteras. Caballos at the other side still keep top position with two games lost.
