Regular Season Round 17: Al-Ahli - Isa Town 80-51

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Al-Ahli as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Al-Ahli smashed 11th ranked Isa Town in Manama 80-51. Al-Ahli dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Isa Town's 28. Al-Ahli forced 19 Isa Town turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Isa Town's players. The former international forward Hesham Sarhan (-92) stepped up and scored 13 points and 6 assists for the winners and Kadhem Majed chipped in 16 points. Four Al-Ahli players scored in double figures. Al-Ahli's coach Aaron McCarthy felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mahmood Aziz responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Hassan Ramadhan scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Al-Ahli have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Isa Town lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Hidd. Isa Town will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Al-Ahli will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Al-Najma. It will be extra interesting game as Al-Najma is their local rival from Manama.
