Regular Season Round 21: Levice - Handlova 97-73

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Handlova (6-15) was crushed on the road by third ranked Levice (15-6) 97-73. Levice forced 20 Handlova turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Handlova helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Serbian forward Zarko Djuric (202-89) nailed 19 points and 6 assists for the winning side and Slovenian guard Miha Vasl (192-92, agency: PEPI SPORT) accounted for 20 points and 4 assists. American guard Marcus Tyus (185-94, college: Omaha) came up with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and Serbian center Bojan Stanojevic (203-88) added 20 points and 5 assists respectively for Handlova in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Levice maintains third place with 15-6 record having just two points less than leader Inter Bratislava. Handlova at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 15 games lost. Levice's next round opponent will be Zilina (#9) on the road which should be theoretically another easy game. Handlova will play against Prievidza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
